UN Deputy chief stresses importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts

Jan Eliasson, the new Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, always carries the Charter of the United Nations in his pocket.
The veteran Swedish diplomat says his favourite parts of the Charter are two chapters.
One is Chapter VI which deals with the peaceful settlement of conflicts and Chapter VIII which promotes regional arrangements to resolve conflicts.
UN Radio's Maha Fayek sat down with Mr. Eliasson to discuss these and other issues, including how some of the recent conflicts have been or are being resolved.
