UN chief pays tribute to late Ethiopian leaderListen /
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed his deep sadness following the death of Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.
According to reports, Mr. Meles, 57, died late on Monday while outside the country where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Secretary-General said Prime Minister Meles will be remembered for his exceptional leadership and advocacy on African issues both within and outside the continent.
Mr. Ban recalled that Mr. Meles had overseen Ethiopia's economic growth and development.
He said Ethiopia has contributed troops to UN peacekeeping missions and he is grateful for the Meles' administration's strong support of these operations.
The Secretary-General offered his condolences to the late leader's family and the government and people of Ethiopia.
