Study finds almost three million Syrians require food assistance

Food assistance

Nearly three million Syrians are in need of food, crops and livestock assistance this year, according to an assessment carried out by the United Nations and the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.

The ongoing crisis in Syria has resulted in nearly $2 billion in losses to the agricultural sector, and the study finds female-headed households, small-scale farmers, and herders are among those severely affected.

To learn more about this situation, Mamadou Alpha Diallo spoke to Abeer Etefa, WFP Senior Regional Public Information Officer who is based in Cairo, Egypt.
