The Chittagong Hill Tracts is one of the most diverse regions of Bangladesh. Access to basic education has been a major challenge for young people in this rural area. The distance to educational facilities has contributed to the low enrolment of young children. In 2003, the UN Development Programme, (UNDP), implemented a decade-long education initiative designed to support Bangladesh's efforts to achieve basic education in the region.

Relocating to a foreign country can offer many opportunities, but without job skills and good connections, migrants run the risk of being exploited.  The Government of Laos has implemented a new initiative to give people who want to try for a better life abroad, the chance to make it work safely and legally. Gail Walker reports.

India faces drought in breadbasket, says WMO

Because of climate change, the frequency, intensity and duration of droughts are expected to increase, according to the World Meteorological Organization, (WMO). India is among the many regions of the world experiencing drought, particularly in Punjab, known as the country's major food growing area. WMO is calling on governments around the world to adopt stronger national policies to deal with drought.
