Stabilization plan for Somalia welcomed by UN envoy
Listen /The signing of a presidential decree to approve a plan to stabilize Somalia has been welcomed by Augustine Mahiga, the top United Nations envoy in the Horn of Africa country.
President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed of Somalia signed the National Security and Stabilization Plan (NSSP) on 8 August.

The Special Representative of the Secretary General in Somalia Augustine Mahiga said the development of the plan has been inclusive, participatory, led and owned by Somalis.
The plan outlines the immediate, medium and long-term actions required to strengthen the security and justice sector in Somalia that respect and promote human rights and the rule of law.
The NSSP envisions a federal state of Somalia based on constitutional rule and at peace with itself and its neighbours.
Somalia's transitional government and institutions will come to an end on 20 August.
