Secretary-General to participate in non-aligned group meeting
Listen /UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced that he will participate in the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Iran next week.
In a statement, Mr. Ban says the summit will provide an opportunity to work towards solutions on issues including disarmament, conflict prevention, and follow-up to the Rio+20 conference on sustainable development.

"With respect to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Secretary-General will use the opportunity to convey the clear concerns and expectations of the international community on the issues for which cooperation and progress are urgent for both regional stability and the welfare of the Iranian people. These include Iran's nuclear programme, terrorism, human rights and the crisis in Syria."
The summit of the Non-Aligned Movement will be held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, from 29 – 31 August.
Founded in 1961, the 118-member organization represents the priorities and interests of developing countries.
