Countries with nuclear programme urged to improve safety
States that use nuclear technology have been urged to fully implement an action plan on nuclear safety.
The call has come from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, in Vienna on Monday.
Mr. Amano spoke at the start of the one-week meeting of 75 states that are party to the Convention on Nuclear Safety.
The IAEA's Action Plan on Nuclear Safety was adopted a year ago.
It encourages Member States to cooperate to maximize the lessons learned from the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan in March 2011.
