Secretary-General visiting China and South-eastern EuropeListen /
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday begins the first leg of a 10-day trip that will take him to China and South-eastern Europe.
While in the capital, Beijing, Mr. Ban will meet with the country's leadership and take part in the 5th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, according to his spokesman Martin Nesirky.
"This is ministerial level bringing together African leaders and China's leaders. This is a good opportunity for the Secretary-General to underscore the importance of South-South cooperation, the Secretary-General's own vision for Africa and his appreciation for the work that's been going on in this context, in this particular format."
The Secretary-General will also take part in an event with Weibo, which is a China-based microblogging service similar to a cross between Twitter and Facebook. During a webcast he will chat live and take questions from users.
