Pillay says delivery of justice is delayed in Kyrgyzstan
Institutional deficiencies continue to hamper the delivery of justice and undermine the rule of law in Kyrgyszstan, UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay told reporters in the capital, Bishkek.
She said authorities have a duty to ensure accountability for crimes and abuses, including by the authorities themselves. She said authorities should also guarantee justice for victims and their families.
Miss Pillay commended the government on its "professed determination to combat corruption" which she said was a chronic problem throughout the region, "including in Kyrgyzstan."
