Listen /Iran should be part of the solution to the Syrian crisis, according to the Joint Special Envoy for Syria to Kofi Annan.
So said Ahmad Fawzi, the Special Envoy's Spokesman, in an interview with UN Radio.
He said Mr. Annan feels Iran should be more involved in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis because it is a strong regional player.
” Iran, as he said, should be part of the solution. It has strong connections with the government of Syria, and the Special Envoy has asked them, as he has many other countries, to use their influence in persuading the government to stop the killing, to implement the six-point plan, including an immediate cessation of hostilities.”
Mr. Fawzi said the Joint Special Envoy was in Baghdad, Iraq on Tuesday where he held talks with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on the crisis in Syria and its impact on the region.
