Improving the effectiveness of the aid dollar
Listen /Many years ago, donor countries came to the conclusion that aid dollars were not generating the kind of results that the donors and recipients were looking for, says Talaat Abdel-Malek, Chairman of the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness.
Donors, for example, blamed recipients for inefficiency, while recipient countries felt donors did not understand their true needs.
In town for a meeting of the Development Cooperation Forum, which reviews trends in international development cooperation, Mr. Abdel-Malek explained to Gerry Adams how his working group is trying to improve the effectiveness of aid funds for donors and recipients.
