Global food security improving:FAO
Listen /Increased productivity this year and a more sustainable food system will improve global food security.
That is the message of the latest Agricultural Outlook published by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD.
Increased production is happening primarily in developing countries, says FAO Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva, and is being led by Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa, the two regions with the greatest agriculture potential.
He says FAO's food price index has been following the trend for the last three months.
“In June, it was 12 percent lower than its level in the same month of 2011. but we are still seeing volatility. The preliminary data we have shown that the food price index may rise again in the next month. “
