AIDS conference opens with focus on progress and hope
Listen /For the first time in 22 years, the International AIDS Conference is taking place in the United States.
At the opening ceremony, speakers praised the US for lifting the travel ban on people living with AIDS and hailed the progress that has been made during the 30 year epidemic.
Having AIDS, said one speaker, has changed from being a death sentence to having a chronic disease.
