UN Security Council and General Assembly to hear from Annan on SyriaListen /
The President of the General Assembly, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser has expressed his disappointment over the lack of progress in ending the violence in the country.
He says while the General Assembly supports Mr. Annan and his 6-point peace plan, members want to see results and will have to look at what to do next to end the conflict.
"The most two important UN Security Council and the General Assembly they are on top of this issue and then we will see what's the next step. I listened to you today there is a proposal for, I am very happy to hear a new initiative to end the violence in Syria and also avoid the spreading to neighbors."
The UN estimates that some 10,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Syria and tens of thousands displaced since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began more than a year ago.
