United Nations Public Service awards have been presented to 44 organizations from 29 countries in recognition for "Innovation and Citizens Engagement for Effective Governance".
The award ceremony was held Monday morning in the General Assembly hall on the occasion of the 10th anniversary United Nations Public Service Day and the start of the Public Service Forum.
It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide.
Sha Zukang is the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.
"A number of government institutions being awarded today have adopted measure to improve efficiency effectiveness transparency and awareness and tot prevent corruption through innovation."
A special concert in connection with UN Public Service Day was also held showcasing Chinese traditional and contemporary dance and music.
