UN envoy condemns deadly attack in central Baghdad

A deadly attack in central Baghdad that reportedly killed at least 26 people and injured more than 100, has been strongly condemned by the United Nations top envoy in Iraq.

According to media reports, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive-packed car outside a Shi'ite Muslim office in the capital's centre on Monday.

Martin Kobler, the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq said in a statement that all Iraqis need to rise above past divisions and unite for a peaceful future.

Eduardo del Buey is Deputy UN spokesman.

"He said that these atrocious crimes against the Iraqi people need to stop and the perpetrators should be brought to justice and he once more called fro all Iraqi's to remain steadfast in the face of violence."
