Serbia will assume the Presidency of the 67th General Assembly

Serbia's foreign minister Vuk Jeremic will become President of the 67th United Nations General Assembly.
He was elected by member states Friday, with 99 votes in favour.
His opponent, Dalius Čekuolis, the Lithuanian Ambassador to the UN received 85 votes.
Mr. Jeremic will begin his new term 18 September.
"We are a small developing country that belongs to no military alliance or political union. It is therefore truly honouring to have received the confidence of so many nations from all over the world to preside over the main deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations."
