• The Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) continues to cause suffering to children in Central Africa, says a new UN report. It says that the LRA has abducted and recruited at least 591 children, including 268 girls. The group operates in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Central African Republic (CAR), and South Sudan.
Sudanese refugees flow into South Sudan's Upper Nile State
• Thousands of Sudanese refugees have massed at a border area in South Sudan's Upper Nile State, according to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). It has warned of a worsening humanitarian situation in that region. UNHCR is also concerned about the safety of the refugees near the border as fighting continues between Sudanese forces and rebels in Sudan.
Displaced people in Somaliland get permanent homes
• Displaced people in Somaliland are getting permanent houses under a UNHCR project. They are part of thousands of people who fled to neighbouring countries 20 years ago. Today peace has returned to this corner of war-torn Somalia. UNHCR says that the provision of permanent shelter brings stability to a family and promotes community integration
