Hand cleaning campaign stressed in WHO campaign
Health care workers are being reminded of the importance of washing their hands on Hand Hygeine Day, which is 5 May.
According to the World Health Organization of every 100 hospitalized patients, at least 7 in developed and 10 in developing countries get health care-related infections.
WHO says many of these infections can be avoided with better hand hygiene, such as cleansing hands at specific times during patient care.
Patrick Maigua spoke with Dr. Benedetta Allegranzi from the WHO Patient Safety Clean Care Department.
