Over 6,200 Somalis displaced as military operation under way in AfgooyeListen /
About 2,000 people a day have been displaced in the Afgooye corridor in Somalia as the Somali forces and African Union troops launch an operation against Al-Shabaab insurgents in the area.
Since 22 May, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) has recorded approximately 6,200 displacements.
The United Nations is concerned about the safety of the displaced people and has urged the forces involved in the operation to make sure civilians are not harmed.
