The global economy is at a critical juncture according to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who says the old model is broken and a new one for dynamic growth needs to be created.
He made the remarks at the opening of a UN General Assembly thematic debate on the "State of the World Economy and Finance in 2012".
The high-level conference was organized to explore ways to improve the global economic and financial situation with a particular focus on the needs of the poor.
The event brought together several world leaders and economic experts.
