Human rights violations continue in Syria
Listen /Violations of human rights are still happening in Syria despite the cessation of hostilities, according to an independent panel.
The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, which periodically updates the UN Human Rights Council, says it's extremely concerned about these abuses.
Derrick Mbatha reports.
In its latest report, the Commission says gross human rights violations continue unabated in an increasingly militarized context in Syria.
It says this is happening despite an agreement reached by the government and the opposition on the six-point plan of joint Special Envoy Kofi Annan to stop violence in the country.
The panel condemned a series of explosions that have killed many people in Damascus, Idlib, Aleppo and elsewhere.
It is also concerned about the displacement of civilian populations within Syria and across international borders.
