Funds urgently needed to fight hunger in Sahel
Listen /The World Food Programme (WFP) urgently needs $400 million to help more than 8 million people who don't have enough food across the Sahel region of West Africa.
WFP says the situation is critical because drought has returned to the region bringing hunger for the third time in recent years.
The newly appointed head of WFP, Ertharin Cousin is on her first field visit to Niger, accompanied by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres.
She explained to Derrick Mbatha on the line from Niamey, the capital of Niger, why she is in the country
