Ban Ki-moon condemns bomb attack near UN convoy in Syria
Listen /The bomb explosion near a UN observer convoy in Syria on Wednesday is evidence of the challenging circumstances under which the unarmed monitors are working.
That's what UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in the General Assembly on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Ban strongly condemned the bomb blast.
"Today's incident is an example of what the Syrian people have endured for the past 15 months. It is a testament to the difficulty and the danger of the task entrusted to our UN observers. And it is a blunt reminder of the risks of violence escalating even further."
There were no UN casualties or damages to UN vehicles in the incident, which took place in the southern city of Dar'a.
The Syrian government has reported that 10 of its soldiers were injured in the explosion.
