The World Health Organization (WHO) is working to post mobile clinics in areas of Syria where there are no functioning health facilities.

The joint effort involves the Syrian Family Planning Association and the country's Ministry of Health.

Dr. Ibrahim Betelmal is WHO's Representative in Syria.

He says the clinics, which are basically buses, will be ready in a few weeks:

"These mobile clinics will have all the equipment needed by the doctor and nurses inside it and will go to the area when there is difficulty for people to move around. And reach people and provide them with basic health service."

The UN Central Emergency Fund has allocated $1 million to WHO for its work in Syria.
