Jazz is like "open canvas" for people to paint on
Listen /The first International Jazz Day is being celebrated at the United Nations on 30 April with a concert featuring artists from around the globe.
Shankar Mahadevan, an Indian music composer, singer and studio musician, is one of the artists participating in the event.
As musicians rehearsed for the concert on Sunday, he joined Dee Dee Bridgewater for improvised music.
Derrick Mbatha spoke with Mr. Mahadevan to get his views about jazz music.
