Jazz brings people together
Listen /Jazz is a universal language that brings diverse people together, according to George Duke, the musical director of the concert to celebrate the first International Jazz Day.
On Monday evening the General Assembly is being transformed from a venue for political speeches to one where diplomats, UN staff members and their friends are listening to great jazz.
International Jazz Day was proclaimed by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 2011.
As the musicians rehearsed on the eve of the concert, Derrick Mbatha caught up with George Duke and asked him about the importance of International Jazz Day.
