Geneva to host Syria humanitarian forumListen /
The UN office in Geneva has announced that a humanitarian forum on Syria will be held on Friday.
Directors of the humanitarian aid departments of various countries are expected to attend the event in Geneva.
UN spokesperson Corinne Momal-Vanian says the forum will be co-hosted by the UN relief agency (OCHA), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Commission's humanitarian arm (ECHO).
"The forum is intended as a platform for all engaged in humanitarian response to share information, mobilize funding and support for effective and timely humanitarian aid. No public statements or other documents are expected to be released from the meeting."
A six-member advance team of UN observers is in Syria to monitor the cessation of violence that went into effect on 12 April.
