UN Secretary-General on Asia tour

Ban Ki-moon

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is on a tour of Asia, making stops in at least four countries where he'll meet with various heads of state.

He starts in Indonesia today, meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as well as Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Health.

In Jakarta, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon addresses an international conference on “Global Security: cooperation and partnerships”. He'll speak about UN peacekeeping work and commend Indonesia for its role in several missions.

The next stop is Malaysia, where Mr. Ban will meet with the Prime Minister and visit a training center for UN peacekeepers. He will also mark World Tuberculosis Day there on March 24.

Then it's on to Singapore to meet with the president there and visit a water management facility that's part of the country's sustainable urbanization efforts.

Finally, the Secretary-General travels to South Korea to participate in the Seoul nuclear safety summit and hold a series of bi-lateral meetings.
