•International Women's Day observed on 8 March annually highlights the achievements women are making around the world. The theme for this year is "Empower Rural Women, End Hunger and Poverty." The Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development (ACORD) is helping Rwandan rural women to improve their farming.
UNICEF helps save children's lives in Darfur

•A health centre supported by UNICEF is saving lives of children suffering from acute malnutrition in Darfur, Sudan. Children who come to the centre are getting therapeutic paste known as Plumpy Nut. It has been used to treat more than 40,000 children in Darfur.
Young American promotes education in Uganda
Youth meeting
•A young American who emigrated from Latvia to the United States when he was seven years old is helping young Ugandans with education. His organization's aim is to empower young people to become better leaders and entrepreneurs. He says the programme is having an impact on young people in Uganda.
