March 25, 2012 will be observed as the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

In this series of programmes produced in English, French, Portuguese , Spanish and Kiswahili, UN Radio honours the memories of the millions of people who have suffered and died because of Slavery and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, their struggles for freedom, what legacies remain and the lessons that could or should heave been learned.

In this segment, we get the views of Professor Felix A. Chami, Archaeologist from University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Department of History & Archaeology. He's also a member of UNESCO's Science Committee of Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and Slave Route.
