Providing employment to young people in an era of a global economic crisis is the subject of the World Youth Report being launched on Monday.

The 2011 edition of the report which is dedicated to the voices of young people, explores how they can transit from schools and training institutions to the workplace.

Daniel Dickinson reports.

The World Youth Report says the global economic crisis has made it more difficult to create job opportunities for young people.

It says that will have long-term implications for both the youth and society at large.

On a positive note, the report shows how young people are succeeding in employment and what governments can do to help prepare them to transition from the classroom to the workplace.

The report is being launched by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
