Turkey offers to host second "Friends of Syria" meeting

Turkey has offered to host a follow up of the Friends of Syria meeting that took place in Tunisia on Friday.

President of the General Assembly Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser who was in the country for another meeting has welcomed the news.

Jocelyne Sambira has more.

Turkey will be hosting a follow up meeting in March of the "Friends of Syria", a group of 60 nations including the US, the European and Arab nations.

General Assembly President Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, who was in the capital of Istanbul for an international meeting on mediation, has welcomed the news.

Mr. Al-Nasser commended Turkey for its leading mediation role in the region.

He stressed the importance of the Friends of Syria meeting held in Tunisia, and the appointment of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan as Joint Special Envoy for Syria.
