Tara research ship

A French scientific research boat and her crew are helping raise public awareness about how climate change affects the world's oceans.

The Tara Oceans research expedition is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme.

It's nearing the end of its 3 year mission to investigate the impact of global warming on biodiversity and marine life.

Tara's sponsor, Agnès Trouble, is a French stylist who owns a worldwide network of shops under the name, Agnès B.

"It's very important for all the people to understand what we do, are the children of the world through the Tara expedition. They have been able to learn a lot about Tara because a lot of children come to the boat at all the stops he did the last two and a half years. It is like a dream but it is very concrete, it is a real story and the story itself calls people. They understand what we are doing. That is why I do it myself. I support this boats, I have been supported this boat from the beginning with my son Etienne."

Tara and her crew will share their findings in June at Rio+20, a major UN conference on sustainable development.
