"Impatience" of Security Council members led to breakdown of Syria Resolution

The Russian Ambassador to the UN, has expressed regret that his country had to veto a Security Council resolution on Syria on Saturday.

Vitaly Churkin, says his country had brought many important problems to the attention of the Council with regard to the activities of the armed groups.

If it were not for the impatience of some of his colleagues from the West, he says, the Council could have reached a consensus.

"On Syria, we are trying to do the right thing. We take our decisions. I regret the fact that there was a veto on Saturday, I think had we have worked two or three more days, we could have had a resolution that could have been unanimously adopted today or tomorrow…"
