Finland leads the world in ICT employment
Nearly 10 per cent of Finland's population works in information and communications technology (ICT), making it the world's leader in ICT employment.
That figure comes from the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which has compiled a database of global ICT statistics.
The agency says ICT is increasingly playing a role in developing economies. For example, ICT-sector contributions to India's Gross Domestic Product rose from 3.4 per cent in 2001 to nearly six per cent in 2008.
However, UNCTAD says there is a lack of data on the ICT-sector in the developing world.
