The world must create 600 million jobs over the next decade, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The ILO says an estimated 40 million new job seekers will enter the labour market each year.

That's in addition to the 200 million people who are currently unemployed across the world.

The findings come in the latest Global Economic Trends report released on Monday.

José Manuel Salazar is Executive Director of the ILO's Employment Sector.

"So the world must create 600 million jobs over the next decade. This is a very difficult challenge in a world where not only the recovery is weak but where the employment content of growth is low. But the situation is even worse when you take into account that in developing and emerging countries, 900 million workers live below the $2 a day poverty line." Duration: 27″

Meanwhile, young people continue to be particularly affected by unemployment.

Last year, nearly 75 million young people between the ages of 15-24 were jobless.
