Political parties in Iraq have been told they need to work together in the "spirit of partnership" to resolve their differences.

The withdrawal of the last United States troops in December, has led to mounting political and sectarian tensions in the Middle Eastern country.

A series of bomb blasts at various locations in Baghdad in the morning rush-hour last month killed more than 60 people and wounded more than 180 others.

Several other attacks have been reported against Iraqi politicians and Government officials in recent weeks.

In a statement released after a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani the United Nations' senior envoy to Iraq, Martin Kobler, urged all political parties to work together and resolve their differences through what he called "meaningful dialogue."
