man with mental health condition

Two thirds of people with schizophrenic disorders in developing countries don't receive care from formal mental health services, according to a study published by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday.

The study was conducted in 50 low and middle income countries between 2005 and 2010.

WHO says that 24 million people around the world are affected by these chronic and severe mental conditions.

Schizophrenic disorders are characterized by profound disruptions in perception and thinking, including hearing voices or experiencing delusions.
