Women from South Sudan are exercising their right to help build their nation and plan for its future.

South Sudan remains one of the world’s poorest countries, with just 30 miles of paved roads and only 15 percent literacy.

An International Engagement Conference on South Sudan, IEC, is taking place in Washington DC in the US, to help raise money and discuss development planning for Africa's newest nation.

Mary Kojo, Director of Gender, Child and Social Welfare spoke to Jocelyne Sambira about the priorities for South Sudanese women.
