An estimated 12,000 pregnant and lactating mothers who have been badly affected by Tropical Storm Washi in the Philippines are getting essential reproductive health supplies to prevent maternal and newborn deaths.  The UN Population Fund or UNFPA is distributing emergency health kits to ensure safe deliveries.  According to the latest figures released by the Philippine Government, over 640,000 people have been affected by the tropical storm.
