Philippines floods

The disaster that struck the Philippines just a few days before Christmas has demonstrated how crucial the UN Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) is.

More than 1,200 people have died from the storm which caused floods that went through villages and two major cities.

Nearly 13,000 houses were destroyed and about 400,000 people displaced by the floods.

Derrick Mbatha discussed the United Nations response to the disaster with Kirsten Mildren of the UN humanitarian agency (OCHA) in the Philippines.
