Sudan, South Sudan troops remain in disputed Abyei

The security situation in the disputed oil-rich Abyei region bordering Sudan and South Sudan remains "fragile”.

That's the assessment of the Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations Hervè Ladsous, who briefed the Security Council on Thursday.

The status of Abyei has not yet been resolved, since a referendum to allow the people of the region to choose between being part of Sudan or South Sudan was postponed.
