New HIV/AIDS infections on the decline
Listen /Advances in research and programme innovations over the past year are strengthening the fight against HIV, according to a UN report on HIV/AIDS.
The joint report by the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and UNAIDS was released in Geneva ahead of World AIDS Day on Thursday.
WHO says that better access to HIV services has resulted in a 15 per cent reduction in new infections over the past decade.
South Africa is one country that has improved its response towards the virus. HIV drugs there today cost half as much as they did two years ago.
