Luxemburg to share emergency telecom technology during natural disasters

ITU

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and Luxemburg have agreed to strengthen emergency response during natural disasters.

Luxembourg has developed a satellite-based telecommunication system which can assist humanitarian agencies operating in crisis zones.

ITU will also encourage its 193 Member States to use this system and facilitate a quick transfer of emergency telecommunication during natural disasters, or even as part of a preparedness strategy for developing countries.

ITU, which is the UN agency for communications and information technologies, and Luxemburg are members of the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster.
