The international community has been urged once again to arrest senior Sudanese government officials and a Janjaweed militia leader for crimes committed in Darfur.

The call has come from the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, who briefed the Security Council on Sudan on Thursday.

President Omar al-Bashir, former minister Ahmed Harun and Janjaweed leader Ali Kushayb are sought by the court for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

Mr. Ocampo said these crimes have not stopped.

"The individuals sought by the court are still allegedly committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur. This is the case where the world knows where the fugitives of the court are because they are in official positions controlling the government of Sudan, commanding military operations in different parts of the Sudan."
