Representatives from developing countries are meeting in Rome on Monday to share success stories and explore solutions to fighting hunger.

The five-day event organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is trying to put the spotlight on rising global food insecurity.

More than 925 million people go hungry every day.

South-South Cooperation is based on solidarity among developing countries and links countries that have development solutions to share with countries in need of expertise.

Brazil and China are two emerging economies that have been inspirational, says Kenyan Ambassador Macharia Kamau and President of the UN General Assembly high level committee of South-South Cooperation.

"You can come from deep poverty. You can come from a deep depravation to great success both in technological, as well as in human terms. This is greatly inspirational the success that we have seen in China, India, brazil, even in other emerging countries such as Russia, Indonesia, South Africa, and others. They are spread over the southern part of the Earth."
