Pregnant women come in early for their malaria prevention

Eleven years after making a solemn pledge to end malaria deaths, African leaders are getting closer to their target.

The 2011 World Malaria Report shows a significant decline of 33% in Africa in the past decade.

The African Leaders Malaria Alliance or ALMA, was created three years ago at the UN General Assembly, to track their progress and foster accountability and action.

Johannah-Joy Phumaphi, is the Botswana-based Executive Secretary of ALMA. She spoke to Jocelyne Sambira about the progress made and their plans for 2012.
