UN top envoy condemns Iraq bomb blasts

The top United Nations envoy in Iraq has strongly condemned a series of bomb blasts that struck the southern Iraqi city of Basra on Thursday.

Dozens of people have been reportedly killed and scores injured.

Martin Kobler the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq, has expressed outrage at the deadly violence.

Meanwhile, in a similar attack on Thursday, 19 people were killed, according to media reports.

Martin Nesirky is a UN Spokesperson.

"Martin Kobler, the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq, has strongly condemned the series of attacks that took place yesterday in Basra, which have claimed the lives of dozens of victims and wounded many more. He extends his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and the authorities of Basra, as well as the Government of Iraq. He wishes a speedy recovery to those who were wounded".
