Turkey hit again by new earthquakes

Earthquake in Van

Two earthquakes shook Turkey late on Wednesday in the city of Van, killing 7 people and burying many more under the rubble, according to the UN's humanitarian agency OCHA.

The 5.7 magnitude quake collapsed 25 buildings, including two hotels where foreign workers and journalists were staying.

Last month, a larger quake hit Van killing 600 people and leaving thousands homeless.

Alpha Diallo spoke to Elisabeth Byrs, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, who described the situation on the ground.
